Assembly Panel Tech Jobs in Houston
Key Responsibilities
- Panel Building: Mount hardware, drill, tap, and secure components into electrical enclosures.
- Wiring & Terminating: Measure, cut, strip, and route wires for point-to-point wiring. Terminate input/output (I/O) signals to terminal blocks.
- Reading Schematics: Interpret technical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and bills of material to build systems to exact specifications.
- Quality & Testing: Use multimeters and other instrumentation to test panels for electrical continuity, voltage, and proper functionality.
- Tool Operation: Utilize hand tools (crimpers, strippers, wrenches) and power tools (drills, saws) safely.
- Compliance: Adhere to strict electrical codes and safety standards, such as UL508A.
Core Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent; vocational training or associate's degree in electrical/electronics technology is a strong plus.
- Experience: Typically 1 to 3+ years in electrical assembly, panel building, or manufacturing environments.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and using testing equipment (e.g., voltmeters, multimeters).
- Physical Abilities: Manual dexterity for handling small wires in confined spaces. Must be able to stand for long periods, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
