Position Summary
The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating daily schedules, assigning work to field personnel, communicating with customers and technicians, and ensuring jobs are completed efficiently and on time. This position requires strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch technicians, drivers, or field personnel to customer locations.
- Schedule new and follow-up service calls based on priority, location, technician availability, and customer needs.
- Monitor schedules throughout the day and make adjustments as necessary.
- Communicate job details, updates, and changes to technicians and customers.
- Maintain accurate records of appointments, work orders, and job status.
- Monitor technician productivity, arrival times, and completion of assigned jobs.
- Respond quickly to scheduling conflicts, delays, emergencies, and other issues.
- Work closely with management, service personnel, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide customers with accurate appointment information and updates.
- Ensure work orders are properly updated and closed out.
- Assist with after-hours, emergency, or priority calls as required.
- Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of dispatching, scheduling, customer service, or related experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Comfortable working with computers, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Experience in a service, transportation, construction, or field-service environment is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with dispatch or field-service management software.
- Knowledge of geographic areas and efficient routing.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple technicians or crews.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a big plus
