Job Summary:
The Inventory Control Clerk job involves monitoring and ensuring accurate and high-quality inventory levels by conducting cycle counts, verifying shipments, maintaining records, performing quality checks on products, identifying and resolving discrepancies, and implementing loss prevention strategies. This role requires strong attention to detail, data entry skills, and the ability to use inventory software to maintain stock levels, track product movement, and report issues to management
Responsibilities:
Inventory Accuracy
- Conduct regular cycle counts and audits to ensure the accuracy of stock levels and records.
Discrepancy Resolution:
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies found during counts, adjusting records and identifying root causes.
Quality Control
- Perform quality checks on incoming and stored inventory to ensure products meet company standards and identify any damaged or substandard goods.
Record Keeping
- Maintain and update inventory records, process returns and document all stock movements.
Shipment Verification
- Receive and process incoming inventory, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders and shipping documents.
Loss Prevention
- Monitor inventory losses, implement loss prevention programs, and help investigate theft or other losses.
Data Entry & Reporting
- Input data into inventory management systems and prepare reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and discrepancies for management.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities for improving inventory accuracy and efficiency and help implement new procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Experience
- 1-2 years Inventory control experience; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Certificate, licenses, and registrations in standing and riding, material handling equipment required. (must possess an active and valid driver’s license)
- Proficiency in inventory software (ERP/WMS) and basic computer applications like Microsoft Excel
Skills/Abilities
- Strong attention to detail for accurate counting and identifying discrepancies
- Data entry & computer skills
- Ability to organize inventory storage areas and manage tasks efficiently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Problem solving skills to research and troubleshoot inventory control problems.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to be on call and react to after hours emergencies on site.
