Service Center Terminal Manager (LTL)
Job Summary
The Service Center Terminal Manager oversees daily LTL terminal operations, including dock, city pickup and delivery (P&D), linehaul coordination, safety, customer service, and cost control. This role ensures safe, efficient, and profitable terminal performance while maintaining high service standards.
Strong knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and PHMSA regulations is required.
This position requires on-call availability Monday–Friday, 24 hours a day, a valid Class A or Class B CDL license, and a start time between 4:30 AM and 5:00 AM depending on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations & Leadership
- Manage daily terminal operations including dock, dispatch, P&D, and linehaul coordination.
- Lead and develop supervisors, drivers, dock, and office staff.
- Ensure efficient freight flow, trailer utilization, and on-time service performance.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and PHMSA regulations.
- Conduct safety audits, meetings, and incident reviews.
- Maintain driver qualification files, HOS compliance, and safety standards.
- Customer Service
- Resolve service issues, delays, and freight claims.
- Maintain strong customer relationships and support service expectations.
- Communicate proactively regarding operational issues.
- Financial Performance
- Manage terminal P&L performance.
- Control key cost drivers including labor, fuel, maintenance, OS&D, claims, and cost per shipment/hour.
- Monitor KPIs and drive operational efficiency.
Qualifications Required
- Minimum 5 years of freight or transportation management experience.
- LTL terminal experience is REQUIRED
- Experience leading terminal operations (dock, P&D, dispatch, linehaul).
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and PHMSA regulations.
- Experience managing P&L, cost control, and operational KPIs.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Experience with TMS systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
- Must be available on-call Monday–Friday, 24 hours/day.
- Ability to work early start shifts (4:30 AM–5:00 AM depending on operational needs).
Preferred
- Must have experience with LTL pricing, freight claims, and network operations.
- HazMat or PHMSA-related transportation experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or Supply Chain
