Summary

The Accounting Manager will plan and direct the accounting activities of the department.

All employees of client company must agree to perform work out of town or at night, on the weekends and on holidays with short notice and for an extended period as needed.

Duties / Responsibilites

The following list includes essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned. Perform all activities in accordance with all policies, principles, and procedures established by company's Management and Board of Directors.

• Responsible for the supervision of A/R and A/P staff, assisting whenever needed.

• Record cash transactions and prepare and enter accruals, prepaids and recurring journal entries in the g/l.

• Prepare needed schedules, financials, support and commentary for the annual financial review and the annual 401K audit.

• Prepare the needed schedules for the Worker's Comp audits.

• Prepare and collect data for yearly insurance audits.

• Assist Human Resources in maintaining electronic payroll tax filing copies.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts (except cash accounts)

• Provide 1099 and sales tax information to the external accountant and assist them on bank reconciliations issues.

• Enter fixed asset activity into Asset Keeper, reconcile cost and accumulated depreciation to the g/l and maintain the Asset Keeper system.

• Create monthly depreciation and fixed assets journal entries.

• Prepare class allocation recaps for all monthly insurance invoices.

• Complete all credit applications for new vendor accounts.

• Download/prepare necessary 401K reports and ensure contributions are funded correctly to John Hancock.

• Apply payments



Apply payments to all invoices and record all deposits.

• Backup to prepare invoices and transmit remote bank deposits.

• Oversee the Chart of Accounts for account setup and review financials for fluctuations.

• Prepare batch entry journals for credit card and O'Reilly transactions.

• Review the g/l for coding errors and reclass as needed.

• Manage the HSA weekly contribution funding including setup of new participants.

• Upload weekly positive pay and research/approve daily exceptions.

• Approve time and time off requests in Paycom for staff.

• Perform all independent and team efforts in a professional and timely manner.

• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

• Strong working knowledge (5-7 years' experience) of job costing and construction accounting, preferred.

• Knowledge of QuickBooks and other accounting software.

• Strong working knowledge of financial reports (ie profit and loss; balance sheet).

• Bachelor's degree from 4-year college required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• CPA a plus

Language Skills

• Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak appropriate financial information to employees and vendors.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to understand technical information and utilize analytical and critical thinking to process information accurately.

Computer Skills

• Applied working knowledge of intermediate Microsoft Excel skills including but not limited to analytical and Boolean formulas (ex. If and Vlookup), pivot tables, formatting, etc.

• Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, etc. Knowledge and experience with QuickBooks is preferred and/or required to learn.

• Proficient with basic office equipment including phone, printer, fax machine, copier and calculator-10 key.

Physical Demands

• Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner.

• Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).

• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects.

• Sitting, sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative
